Migration approaches

There is no single right path for every company. Based on the readiness analysis, we choose the approach that best fits your business goals, the state of your current system and your budget:

  • Greenfield (new implementation): a clean start for companies that want to redesign their processes around best practices. Historical data is migrated selectively.
  • Brownfield (system conversion): the existing ECC system is converted to S/4HANA together with its configuration and custom developments, with minimal process change.
  • Selective data transition: a middle way in which selected company codes, periods or processes are carried over while others are redesigned.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does an S/4HANA migration take?

Duration depends on the chosen approach, the number of company codes and modules, and the volume of custom code and data. After the readiness analysis we present a project plan with clear phases and dates.

Should we choose greenfield or brownfield?

Greenfield fits when you want to fundamentally redesign your processes; brownfield fits when you want to keep the current setup and convert it technically. The decision should be based on the Readiness Check and process analysis results.

What happens to our custom ABAP developments?

All custom code is scanned with ATC. Unused objects are retired, incompatible ones are fixed, and those that can be covered by standard Fiori or S/4HANA functions are simplified.

Will our business stop during the migration?

Go-live follows a detailed cut-over plan, usually in a low-activity window such as a weekend. Mock conversions measure the downtime in advance and keep it to a minimum.
